Uh, you know, we live now in technology driven world
In times past ever since the Industrial Revolution wealth was created primarily from natural resources
But that isn’t exactly the etched in stone fact
Prior to the mid-1850s there was the Scientific Revolution that began in the 1400s
The academic discipline of chemistry in some unforeseen way led to the accidental discovery by a Swiss chemist who walked to his lab well into his 80s
That said, as far as US stock market sectors are concerned, the medical sector is by far the largest in terms of the number of companies in which a retail or professional asset manager deploying other people’s money can invest
Close to 1 000 public traded companies
It is in my view pretty much a crap shoot when it comes finding one that is equivalent to Microsoft
With that said one should, in the long run, expect disappointment to be the norm rather than the exception
