Protection goes away if the witness proves uncooperative, untruthful, or both.

Three plea deals means corroboration; more deals to come represent gravy.

I imagine that the prosecutor is letting the other defendants' lawyers know that the clock is quickly ticking down on plea deals. At what point does what other defendants have to offer become superfluous?
