Well, we'll see. It's possible that one of the motivations of the Hamas attack was to attempt to derail the progress that's being made between Israel and its Arab neighbors. I think we're probably hearing more about the plight of the Palestinians from Americans today than in the Middle East. Not sure that this one quote makes it so, though, one person is a pretty small sample size:

“The Arab world has too many problems to still care about Palestine,”

What's going on with all this? Obviously the Palestinians deserve equal rights, their own state, etc., but it seems like the surrounding countries might be fed up with trying to deal with their leadership. Continuously inciting people to violence is not a forward looking strategy and what jobs has Hamas created other than martyrs? It worked for bin Laden, but maybe people are getting tired of their limited choices for careers.

The people shouldn't be punished for the corruption of their leadership, but what's the workaround here? If you give money to Hamas how do you prevent it from going to rockets or apartments in Europe, instead of schools? It's definitely FUBAR, and now the people on both sides are suffering for it. Look, Bibi's hardly better, he's responsible too for the attack a couple of days ago.

Israel has some of the best desalination technology on the planet and fresh water is crucial, especially in countries like those in the Middle East. I've heard it called the new oil and believe I've read somewhere that Israel is a net exporter of fresh water. So for leaders with zero-sum mentalities are they going to want to partner with groups like Hamas that have nothing to offer to anyone or with a reliable provider of fresh water? Not saying it's right or ethical or moral, but what relations between any countries are?
