Everything is currently flowing in the pre planned manner

The only question I have is, will this take another 15 years for their plan to be realized? There are so many events in history that have taken much less time than this saga to complete. As an example, in 1961 President John F. Kennedy proposes landing astronauts on the moon before the end of the decade; this was accomplished, ahead of schedule, in 1969. Now, in my opinion, If we could land a man on the moon in less than a decade, why would something as mundane as this take so much more time?
