One of my thoughts about trolling conditioning that normal people fall into is a sort of setup of 'unanswered-ness'.
I'm sure someone more qualified than me has a name already, and it's a huge ploy on stock boards is it's like a unwritten pressure on the target person.

The troll says something insane and completely false and writes it as true syntax. So the target, knowing it's total bullshit and doesn't answer at all. Which the troll then claims, see no answer so I am right and you are wrong. wheedle wheedle wheedle. And we know it's a ploy and it drives normal people nuts to leave that asshole uncorrected, so many people who know better almost can't help themselves. They know they're wrong, you know they're wrong but they are daring you to respond and if you don't they win. Or at least in their mind.

So there's that.
