"Choosing a president’s qualifications based on a debate is like beauty pageant judges assessing a woman’s intelligence based on her waist-to-hip ratio in a thong bikini. The skills required to bluster on a stage are not the same ones crucial to creating meaningful legislation, negotiating with international allies and enemies, or dealing with domestic challenges. It’s like trying to choose your brain surgeon by watching them bake cookies.
P - But Americans like competitive sports and so they insist on this sad spectacle."

for sure have none of Ali's poetic class, and little of his flair. Relative butterflies vs relative caterpillars was never going to be much of a prizefight.

After seeing a couple of minutes of Ron DeSantis i understand why he is seen as dull.

As you well remember in a most misguided moment i suggested Vivek Ramanswamy may be the winner. What you didn't know that disaster of a position was based simply upon the fact he said he was going to wing it. The spirit grabbed me. I didn't realize it was so empty.

Mike Pence ok, "...showed a lot more spunk than ever before." Still, though America remains the most powerful Christian nation in the world with millions still unimaginatively looking to the most iffy imaginative non-human world for guidance it was inspiring to see, in 2020, a majority of voters rejecting the theocratic/authoritarian mix that had sullied America for the previous four years. Neither God nor a dictator in the presidential suite they said.

It's sorta nice to know my reaction to the little reading of the debate i did last night ..

was more on the mark than my pre-debate hunch about the clown of the new far-right.

Good to read - "Shakespeare gives the most accurate description of the debate: “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”"

Lastly, as for the loser who decided for once to stay off the stage:

PS: Sorry i won't see the reactions you get to the post in that other place.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
