BTW, the only way they are "free shares" is if the company gave them to you. Are you saying you are an insider?
Otherwise, they are "reinvested shares" and have a cost basis.
If I make $3000 on my KO stock today and sell and put it into this, are those "free shares"?

Just my opinion, of course.
