'How should one behave toward trolls on social media boards?'

Several observations. Most of us who respond to the batshit are not candidates for sainthood. Some of us enjoy learning about logical fallacies and appreciate the greater apprehension of truth from its collision with error (batshit).

Moderators have other ways to respond; remove offending posts and time-outs for trolls.

Here are some tips on how to behave towards trolls on social media boards:

Ignore them. This is often the best course of action. Trolls are looking for attention, and if you ignore them, they will eventually get bored and move on.

Report them to the platform. Most social media platforms have policies against trolling, and you can report trolls to the platform. This may not always result in action being taken, but it can help to reduce the number of trolls on the platform.

Block them. If you're being harassed by a troll, you can block them. This will prevent them from seeing your posts and commenting on them.

Don't engage with them. Trolls are often looking for a reaction, so if you engage with them, you're just giving them what they want. It's better to stay calm and ignore them.

Don't take it personally. Trolls are often trying to upset people, so it's important not to take their comments personally. Remember that they're just trying to get a reaction out of you.

Here are some additional tips:

Stay calm and collected. It can be difficult to stay calm when you're being trolled, but it's important to do so. If you lose your temper, the troll will have won.

Be respectful. Even if you're not going to engage with the troll, it's important to be respectful. This will help to show that you're not the one who's being unreasonable.

Don't give them the satisfaction. The troll's goal is to upset you or get a reaction out of you. Don't give them the satisfaction of knowing that they've gotten to you.

It's important to remember that trolls are not worth your time or energy. By following these tips, you can help to minimize the impact that trolls have on you.
