I'll cop a plea and admit, not being a lawyer, the flotsam and jetsam of all of these failed lawsuits
confuse me.
My point is, if the system is screwed up by, let's say, broad bank mismanagement and the middle class begins to suffer and complains to the WH and Congres, someone will look to the GSEs as part of the solution.
When and if that time occurs, just as most Senators and Congressmen accepted the lies from Hank Paulson and the do-nothingness of the Obama WH and the Trump Treasury, they'll jump on board whatever the GSE new idea is, claim it is legal and desirable, and justify its need to show their voters they are doing something about the problem.
