So it's gonna be okay to call people "idiots" and the like? And otherwise let them behave like undisciplined five-year-olds? Just because--as those kids would say--"everybody does it"? Relative civility is one of the things that's made IHub stand apart over the years. It is not a Bad Thing.
It isn't that I don't believe IHub should make some changes, but trying to turn it into Twitter nearly 15 years after Twitter made its debut is the wrong approach.
IHub succeeded originally because it offered things Silicon Investor and Raging Bull didn't have. Chief among them was the possibility for users to post their photos illustrating their posts. Neither SI or RB ever got round to that. IH was also, I think, the first site of its kind to implement user moderators to keep order to the extent IHub did. That saved a lot of money, and it's worked surprisingly well over the years.
It continued to be innovative, and that is what kept it going. Sad to say, the only new stuff it's introduced lately is designed to make it more like other sites. Imitation may be the the sincerest form, but in the end, it's just... imitation.
IHub would, I think, do better to try to come up with something genuinely NEW. AND to finish with this eternal reformat. AND to ensure that annoying glitches don't keep reappearing.
