Watched it again (so good!). I've seen Piers in action before and disagree or agree in some subtle squirming. Not that he didn't disagree on some points. The "Woke" topic was exquisite. Piers, Mayer, DeSatan, etc,.. go on and on cuz it's too important a brand to dismiss the way Chomsky so easily skewered it. Notice, he never argued but moved on to the next question on every topic. I did like that he came back to the moral question of the world's need to take proactive measures to counter a Ukrainian or Taiwanese Invasion. As for China/US; You can't break something already broken. The One China :  Policy, .. Principle, .. as Chomsky says "strategic ambiguity". Of course, 50 years is a measure of success. As true as a paradox can be I suppose. I was surprised to learn China is not actually building up their military at increasing rates as western media claims (Swedish think tank source).

Put that in context when Piers asked Chomsky to name a most valued pier which was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Ellsberg. The significance was ("higher" than) top secret access to a US plan to destroy China with Nukes if Berlin was invaded. Yup - that is one hawkish fuck up faction in US power circles fo sho!.

It is the diplomatic acknowledgement of China's position that there is only one Chinese government. Under the policy, the US recognises and has formal ties with China rather than the island of Taiwan, which China sees as a breakaway province to be unified with the mainland one day.

The One China policy is a key cornerstone of Sino-US relations. It is also a fundamental bedrock of Chinese policy-making and diplomacy. However, it is distinct from the One China principle, whereby China insists Taiwan is an inalienable part of one China to be unified one day.

The US policy is not an endorsement of Beijing's position and indeed as part of the policy, Washington maintains a "robust unofficial" relationship with Taiwan, including continued arms sales to the island so that it can defend itself.
