Mainor is absolutely right. I would defer to someone who lives in the city we are discussing vs. someone who lives Down Under. That fact alone means that you are not aware of the problems that Atlanta schools have developed over the years. Black parents want a choice if the school that their children are compelled to attend are in the lower 25% in proficiency. They cannot afford to move their children to a better, higher performing school.
This legislation would provide those funds for the parents--and take those funds away from the public school system that have been FAILING in their mission to educate children. The incentive to improve the public schools that are notorious for their failures would be on notice that they either improve--or their funding gets cut by the parents moving their children. What could be a more basic democratic right that voting with your feet?
