Could have just read Elizabeth Christ Trump, and thought "Oh, Christ so that's how it all started", and left it at that, but the history after is interesting too. And though Donald still escapes criminal conviction no one should ever forget Weisselberg went down on his behalf and that the organization Donald headed was convicted on 17 felony charges.

"In August 2022, the organization's chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, pleaded guilty to committing more than a dozen felonies, including criminal tax fraud and grand larceny.[16] In September 2022, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a civil lawsuit against the organization. A separate criminal trial brought by the Manhattan district attorney began in October; on December 6, the organization was convicted on 17 criminal charges.[17][18]"

Wondered again what the penalty against the Trump Organization for all that criminality was. Umm, a joke. $1.6 million. Chump change. It's no wonder Bragg felt to add:

“This conviction was consequential,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg, “the first time ever for a criminal conviction of former President Trump’s companies.” But, he added, “I want to be very clear — we don’t think that is enough. Our laws in this state need to change in order to capture this type of decade-plus systemic, egregious fraud.”

Wonder if he's found time yet to have anyone working on changing those laws.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
