I think it was probably a once in a lifetime situation...

It wasn't. Bankruptcies sometimes wrap up fairly quickly; other times they take years. They do announce that common shares will be cancelled--if they will be--but often don't say exactly when. I think that's probably because they believe investors will have sold long before things reach that point.

BBBYQ has said the commons will be worthless at the end of the day, so I think we can assume they will be canceled. If the company doesn't announce a date for that, it'll just happen whenever they report the cancellation to FINRA. Even if it's in the middle of a trading session.
