Personally i think so. My Dad was one of those "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" guys and after hearing it for years as a kid i hated it. Repressing emotion so much as to bow to such a nicety rule is not particularly good for anyone. Insult is like swearing to me. And yes people sometimes deserve to be told. Sometimes it works, and so is good for them. Like swearing, personally i feel insult can be fully justified.
