OT: It does appear that our miliary strategy is not working and that the war being fought is one that can only be won by the Iraqi people playing a much bigger role reclaiming control of their country vs US troops continuing to fight and die. I did not intend my comments to be for or against the war since I don't know enough about the whole situation to know what is "best".

The main point of my comments is that I think our media, in their efforts to push their agenda which comes across to me as being against the war, have been ignoring the stories of many heroic humanitarian efforts made by soldiers, engineers, relief agencies, and others with special skills. Some of these folks are getting big bucks to risk their lives, but many others are not getting enough financial compensation to justify the risk to themselves, yet they are still volunteering to go there and try to help. I think that the media, whether for or against the war, should still be giving "support" and recognition to these brave people for their efforts to help the people of Iraq. Recognition of these efforts should not need to be a political endorsement either for or against the war.

The problems the US is having over in Iraq is not due to what our media is reporting here at home, but the continuing images of our efforts as being a failure has been harmful and demoralizing to the many of those people that have genuinely been trying to do everything in their power to help. I wish their stories would be told so we as a country can make these individuals feel more appreciated for their efforts.

Definitely, the whole situation is a big mess. I just happen to know some people that risked their lives over there doing things they feel truly helped people over there, but they were frustrated and hurt to come back here and find that there was so much negativity towards our US efforts in Iraq. They took it personally as lack of support for their efforts. They were frustrated that noone seemed to know or care about their efforts. It just seems sad to me that our media hasn't made more of an effort to help the stories about these individual efforts known.
