ooh, I goofed up It's 3"x 12" random lengths of oak with rounded edges that I mostly cut off and made 3/8 round shoe out of. The trick was to take just enough out of the stock to get the old finish off and bring it back to life in a different form, thats where the planer came into play usually a heavy 16th gets most of it and the rest just needed to be hand sanded. The rounded edges were cut at 1/2 (two per edge) and ran through the table router on 3/8 so I didn't have to play games with sanding the little shit.

then I was left with a clean 2 7/8 by 10 that crosscut into four 5/8 sticks which were then halved to 4 7/8 and routed the trim pattern from there with the most limited waste I could make. The 120 tooth saw blade has a 16th kerf so that has to be taken into account.

LOL I don't know why I'm going on about this shit because I should be in bed right now. probably just reminded of the smell of the fresh cut oak. To me it smells like baby poop which isn't the most palatable thing but it's really all I can compare it to. I did a cookie cutter thing for the first house we ran it in and it was okay but I got a little more creative with the router bits for the next three, alternating grooves that turned out pretty good. It helps to have a kick ass table saw/router to do the job. We used to have a beast at our shop that could rip and edge 12 foot door slabs so I was good to go.

I used natural stain in my house because thats my favorite but it's basically just a clear coat before the urethane gets applied. The coolest one we did was house 3 where I had read about bleaching the oak to make it look almost white. That one was really cool, with the colors on the walls we used the wood just bounced right out at you I'll give that to my ex, she always had a flare for design lol I just built the shit.. That was my first renter and the people who ended up buying it outright because I was forced to sell in my divorce still cherish it for that white oak. Pretty proud of that one but a little too bold of an experiment for my personal taste. I like the deep, dark natural tones but I'm glad they like it and didn't do anything stupid like paint the wood. I fucking despise people who do that.

Did a job for an old boss once in a multi million dollar house he bought that had a glorious double staircase that wrapped around the whole entry room and the fuckhead whitewashed the whole thing , I was sick to my stomach watching that but I guess to each their own. He along with his wife were really strange and had white everything, carpet, wood, furniture, tile, paint and appliances. it was seriously spooky walking through that place and the fucking house was so big that it needed 4 furnaces and hot water heaters I remember joking with him that his master bathroom was larger than my living room (it was) . Nothing but a sea of white though, it made me dizzy.

Ok, enough.... note to self. Stay the fuck away from the tea kettle after midnight no matter how much you like the flavor. The former guy will still be walking free tomorrow and for a long time to come so you're not going to miss anything junior. Go count sheep or something instead you bonehead. Your girls are all busy today and it's too late for a booty call. You're not 20 anymore, dummy.c

ta ta for now. Enjoy the new day! I'm sure most of mine will involve picking up stray branches that were blowing all over the place last night.
