The four times I have been in that situation-
1) A company did an RS only (by surprise), and all existing investors dumped shares (market sells) at market open the next morning. I could not sell fast enough to avoid loosing money.
2) A company did a name / ticker change along with an RS. This worked out fine, and didn't loose any money. The price went up a little over the next two months and I sold off for a small profit (20%).
3) A company did an RS on only on the OS, but kept the AS the same, and the price crashed the next morning and I lost money.
4) A company went through a reverse merger, with a completely different business plan, new owner, and new products. They changed the name and ticker symbol, and did a large RS. They did everything at once. I found out when the change happened (on a Sunday night) when I got an email from my broker saying my existing order had been canceled due to "corporate action". That worked out well, and I tripled my money.
