For mine i just see it as, as the article said .. https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=171375484 , a feeling arising from a twitter conversation. A discussion between some experts in the area who over years have been exposed to many examples of non-binary sexually identifying people being hurt by others not understanding their situation where they are confused scared and resentful because they don't feel male or female. And who got into thinking how language can be hurtful to many. having a twitter chat which ends up going in a fairly esoteric direction.

Personally i agree

'Researchers should be encouraged to avoid “emphasising hetero-normative views” and use terms like “sperm-producing” or “egg-producing” or “XY/XX individual” instead, experts said."

with you, on the face of that, it sounds a bit precious.Still it's only the expression by a fairly select group of their thought (their feeling) that researchers (not all people, but researchers) should consider using more gender neutral sexual terms. Read the article again.

We know science has established definitively that we humans comprise a sexual continuum between all male and all female. So for researchers in that field to make an effort to not speak in bare male female terms feels reasonable to me. You know what i'm talking about. See:

It isn't a fad for the sake of it thing. It's important simply because millions of individuals have suffered
harassment, humiliation and abuse during their lifetime simply because they were born a certain way.

'We don’t know if your baby’s a boy or a girl': growing up intersex
[...]
Jack’s specific diagnosis is rare, but being born with a blend of female and male characteristics is surprisingly common: worldwide, up to 1.7% of people have intersex traits, roughly the same proportion of the population who have red hair, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights .. https://unfe.org/system/unfe-65-Intersex_Factsheet_ENGLISH.pdf . The British charity DSD Families .. http://www.dsdfamilies.org/ .. estimates that around 130 babies born in this country each year need investigations before their sex is assigned .. http://dsdfamilies.org/docs/Midwives%20article.pdf . Other people may have problems with their hormones that aren’t visible at birth.
P - Jack’s parents knew he was different before he was born, when a routine scan couldn’t determine if he was a boy or a girl. Juliet was referred to a consultant at the local hospital, followed by meetings with geneticists and neonatologists, blood tests and an amniocentesis. She was told her baby was genetically male, but that this didn’t necessarily make him a boy. “It was very hard. I’d just assumed that XX is girl and XY is boy,” Juliet says. “Because people don’t know there are variations, when they occur it’s a freakish thing. But actually, he is just a normal child.

"...roughly the same proportion of the population who have red hair,..." To encourage more people to understand and accept that situation is not unreasonable. And language is important. You know that.

I don't agree survival of the fittest should be retired either:

"The project even advises that one of the most recognised scientific concepts, the “survival of the fittest” - a phrase that originates from Darwinian evolutionary theory - should be retired as it is linked to eugenics, and discriminates against people with disabilities."

But i can see their problem with it as stated there.

On your "This smacks of a bunch of maga republiklans and busy bodies fucking around and trying to control again." I'm guessing they would be more likely kind and considerate liberals in the main.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
