It's a cumbersome extra step while I have seen other websites allow that. Of course I'm sure there has to be some virus checking along the way.

There's another problem: You'd be linking directly to the external site and the image it hosts. If that site removes the image, it would disappear from IHub as well. And that's why IHub has the Image Gallery. It will preserve the images should they no longer be available at their original location.

I don't find using it all that cumbersome.
