The concept of spacs have been around for decades. It's only recently that some rules were either rewritten or removed to allow more freedom of corp plans. Todays spacs with the ability to garner funds with no business plan, no partners or companies they are speculating about is not the same as 10 years ago. Todays spacs are like blank check companies with no governmental regulations or oversight. A recipe for fraud.
Todays spacs changed somehow in the last 5 years.

It's like saying bitcoin blockchain is a new thing. Blockchain tech has been around for 20 years or more in different configurations. Trying to tie bitcoin to a blockchain data structure is the new thing. The bitcoin 'experts' thought blockchain would bring instant point of sale but it's almost exactly opposite of anything quick.
