More depends to add to the first you got, lobbying as much as not could be for policy you agree with. You, i mean. Then there obviously would be the case not nearly all lobbyists get what they ask for. Ask a lobbyist how successful they are in all they seek. And so much money involved on both sides of any race, eh. So half of that money loses. Nice try, maybe even zero influence gained. The money on the winner may get some influence. More or less.
