SAN ANTONIO - It was one of the biggest days in San Antonio history.

Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney came together at the German English School off South Alamo Street in San Antonio for the final initialing ceremony for the North American Free Trade Agreement.

A Canadian-U.S. free-trade agreement was concluded in 1988, and NAFTA basically extended that agreement’s provisions to Mexico.

Bexar County officials commemorated the event by donating a plaque in 2012 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the historic event.
