That article is very misleading, hinging on absolute nonsense. For instance, I live in Illinois and unemployment benefits are all gauged on your last years wages. If you make over 60 k a year, you receive the full benefit which is 380 a week. If you make less than that, then you get less benefits. If you have children that are taxable dependents you get an extra 50 bucks for each child. It only lasts 26 weeks and then you are done.

In the height of the pandemic I had to apply because I wasn't sure if I would have my job or not, but I was only on it for 3 weeks until I got the shot to help build the pop up hospitals and other government projects.

At the most, even with the stimulus THAT CAME FROM TRUMP, I made 680 a week, lol I made more than that in two 8 hour days at my union carpenter job. It's peanuts.

Now since I switched jobs I'm on COBRA extended insurance coverage that costs me 300 a month until my new work insurance kicks in. I checked out the Affordable Care Act insurance and it costs the same even with the subsidies and doesn't cover half the stuff that my union insurance does and has insane deductibles.

I'd love to see the twisted math that this author is using to arrive at those figures. They seem imaginary to me. I'd rate this one as "full of shit" and just another cheap attempt to attack Biden for nothing he has any control over. The states all run their individual unemployment programs.
