I think it's still true that if you still pay for a land line, and it's still active but you've put up a cordless phone and the electricity goes out, you can use an older princess or desk phone and still call out. The land line phone still operates but won't light up or maybe not even ring. But you'll be able to call in an emergency. Your cordless is useless and if your cell phone is internet provided you may only be able to call 911. But if it's just a power outage, you don't have an emergency situation unless you're on a home lung.

So light a candle and get a good book, if you were able to keep the ones they haven't burned yet.
