It has its uses. I have friends in Indianapolis who have grandkids in Tulsa. Facetime lets my friends watch the little ones grow up even if they can't be there every week. Bedtime stories and silly songs from miles away.
My mom is in an independent living facility. One of my sisters is 5 minutes away, another is 30 minutes away and I'm 3 hours away. The slightly more mature sister will attend mom's doctor visits via Facetime, get the straight scoop from the doctor and help mom remember what she needs to ask. Then she keeps me in the loop via text LOL
