What Happens After a Hung Jury?
Sometimes, a jury cannot gather enough votes for one verdict. This is called a "hung jury." What happens after a hung jury depends on the court and type of trial. Some courts allow the jury to create a list of questions for the parties to answer in an additional hearing. Sometimes the judge may declare a mistrial.
My interpretation of Unanimous is - something like 5-4 or 6-3 wherein majority wins.. Otherwise the above paragraph doesnt make sense.. Hung jury will always happen even if 1 person votes the other way...
So i think unanimous means majority leaning towards one side.. Its impossible to have everyone have the same view always... in a Jury... So 99% will be hung verdict if the verdict has to be all or nothing..
I aint no legal expert though
