An ex colleague thought orange juice was so good for him he drank too much. Forget whether he mentioned a kidney problem or what. You wouldn't do that but anyway .. https://www.eatthis.com/side-effects-drinking-too-much-orange-juice/ . I haven't bought juice for so long because of the sugar and because i eat plenty of fruit.
Always had a weak stomach. It got so i knew when it was coming so mostly always got to a private place in time. One time not, i remember being in a car on the way up to one of the skiing mts. of Vancouver. Think it was Grouse Mtn. It was after a special hot toddy day at uni. I insisted on them pulling into a White Spot, jumped out of the car and in getting to the washroom made a trail across the parking lot. Couldn't hold it. In the rush i remember seeing a parked police car on my right side. Can't remember if there were any in it or not. If so they must have just laughed. Most every other time i was expert. Would get to a bathroom. Had a routine. Clean myself out and go back to drinking. Never had hangovers though. That was my curse.
Is good you were able to get through your terrible giving up. I obviously didn't have the problem you had as never had that sort of withdrawal.
Yes, often too think i beat it so others can. Not sure if that's totally fair as we are all so different. I think it about drugs and smoking and gambling too. The group things aren't my scene, but is good they are there for those who can't do it by themselves. IF they work for them. Agree with you though in thinking that some just don't try hard enough to do it themselves.
No you have done well. I had an alcoholic step-uncle?? from Dad's late marriage. He was a real alcoholic. One drink and he couldn't stop. i remember at least three times he had one drink then bang and ended up in rehab 3-4 days later. I think many call themselves alcoholics when actually they only have a drinking problem. Calling themselves alcoholics sorta glorifies their situation, i think. Gives them an excuse. An alcoholic is a person like the step-uncle above.
Don't blow it again. Ever.
It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
