You might want to have another look at tequila, the landscape has changed a lot recently. Even the Clooney Gerber lineup is tasty (not sure if Clooney's still involved) and not all that expensive.

Enjoy Costa Rica, never been there but every single person who goes there seems to have liked it. My son went there on his honeymoon, his second time there, and they had a blast.

Made my way through a bottle of Bowman bourbon a few weeks ago. As the man said, "it's fucking delicious" (if a little sweet).

There's a cult of bourbon drinkers, that I was unaware about until a couple of years ago. Like the fans of Pappy, which is hard to get and very expensive. Liquor stores have to play the odds to get some of the rarer bourbons, distributors do a lottery once a week and sometimes all that's available is a bottle or two of whatever. And they sell for a lot, and people come from all over the place to buy the stuff.

A friend is into Defiant whiskey, made in NC and also very hard to get. We have a distillery around the corner from our house that makes some excellent, in my opinion, gin. Ryan Adam's gin, Aviator, is also pretty good.
