Fermilab is really cool. It looks like one big building in the middle of nowhere with cows and sheep grazing around. If you didn't know what was happening underground you wouldn't even notice that it's really a proton accelerator. It's amazing. The neutrons don't stand a chance. ;-) Argonne which is nearer to my house is the same way without the racetrack. Just lovely forest and a herd of white deer. The university of Chicago is also a subterranean paradise except now there's swimming pools... and movie stars. The "cement pond" takes on a whole new meaning in this neck of the woods.
