yep, my mom thought cartoons were too violent and still stands by that today. Of course I still went to a friends house or where ever and watched them or flipped the tele on to them when she was at work but it really helped me in hindsight.

She made me read instead, so I learned a lot from the books I had because that was my escape. Instead of watching a mouse beat up on a cat I learned about Middle Earth and Hobbits or how Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew solved mysteries, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn's adventures were a favorite too.

It helped me in school because I was always two chapters ahead of my teachers in our math and science books, solving problems for tests months ahead of time.

There's more there but most of the shit I read as a kid is getting banned now because they want kids to be stupid and just watch cartoons or play video games.
