I reread the 8K today and spent some more time with it. The payment is due 72 hours after the effective date and that would require another 8K within the next 4 days. The dollar amounts are redacted from the attachments to the 8K. Tuxi and I kicked around international marketing last night on the phone and reading it I see discussion about translation of marketing materials and in country sub distributors. Apparently this constitutes 2 of 5 available tests and they have a competitive advantage based at least on the time to conduct a test. The global market is huge if they are going to screen everyone prior to Lasik and IOL's. 95% of the population need IOL's for cataracts between age 60 and 65. I've been there and done that and my eyes are indeed dryer since. They will also cover half of the cost of completing the next product over the next 18 months which is like an insurance policy in case there are unforeseen complications as unlikely as that is.
I don't see this as competition with existing products as much as the creation of a new market space by educating doctors about critical times where they should be testing their patients.
The question of when we see an 8K documenting the payment is interesting. I can't find anywhere that the effective date is stated but I could have missed it. I don't think that they would have issued the PR on the 19th unless the contract was effective and it was signed on the 15th. I also think that they would want this information released before the conference to show customers how big this animal really is. If the effective date was on the 19th then payment was received on or before the 22nd making the 8K due no later than this Wednesday. Its interesting to note that the last 8K came 2 business days after the contract was signed and that broke John's long standing tradition of delaying every disclosure as long as possible.
Devo and TexasMarvl...have you found the effective date in anything that you have read? Do you agree with my logic that we should see the 8K in the next 2 days?
