All these wonderful plans
All these dates like 2030 and 2035 are being thrown around. All this electrification is going to need electricity, a LOT of it. It has to come from somewhere. All those batteries that use all that Lithium (and Niobium) must be recharged. California is the leader in renewables. In their recent heatwaves renewables covered about 20% of the demand. Tesla is telling owners in Texas to not plug their cars in until late evening. We have no spare capacity in this country and neither does Europe. Over half the power generation in this country is fossil fuel. When you switch to an EV you are switching from gasoline to coal. Eventually this will become obvious to people. This green revolution will be forced to slow down and wait for generating capacity to catch up. I have seen no news about anyone beginning construction on new generating capacity. A big coal fired plant can be built in 5-10 years. If your concern is CO2, that accomplished nothing. A nuclear plant that makes dependable power 24-7 and does not emit CO2 takes 10-15 years. Nuclear plants can be designed to run on Thorium instead of Uranium. So where do you get Thorium? Well son of a gun: there is quite a bit of Thorium in Elk Creek carbonatite!
