What he did have an affect on was what has happen since then. Information supplied by Putin was taken by Hillary and democrats, then used by the FBI to complete his goal of sowing doubt in the election and Trump himself.
Hillary, Democrats, and certain FBI agents were willfully used by Putin all because they thought it would help them, not our country.

You want me to cut the shit, when I correct a LIE stating that Trump publicly said he trusted Putin more than his own intelligence agency.
Flat out that is just a LIE. You can say what he said, but you don't get to make up what he did not say and not get called out for lying.
Obviously Trump does not trust Putin. And obviously he had reason not to trust Hillary Commie Clinton and James Commie Comey, who worked together with Putin to sow distrust in the election.
