(CNN)Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, one of two GOP members of the House select committee investigating January 6 .. https://www.cnn.com/specials/politics/january-6-insurrection , told the Wall Street Journal .. https://www.wsj.com/articles/jan-6-panel-considers-seeking-testimony-from-donald-trump-mike-pence-11657821175 .. that the panel is considering asking former President Donald Trump to testify and may request a written interview with former Vice President Mike Pence or issue a subpoena .. https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/04/politics/what-is-a-subpoena/index.html .. for him to testify.
The committee has long considered interviewing the former vice president as part of its investigation into January 6, 2021 .. https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/10/politics/jan-6-us-capitol-riot-timeline/index.html . In April, the committee's chairman, Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, told reporters that Pence's testimony might not be necessary given the information they've been able to gather from other sources.
The Wall Street Journal interview was published Thursday.
Pence's former chief of staff, Marc Short, and his chief legal counsel, Greg Jacob, have both testified before the committee.

“I can’t have a lot of confidence that this committee is going to provide some sort of impartial analysis,” Mr. Short said on Fox News. “I think that when the Democrats rejected the people that Kevin McCarthy put forward to make it a more bipartisan commission, I think it went down more of a political show-trial path.”
P - [ No, Mr. Short, the Democrats did not resist the effort to make the committee bipartisan. They just rejected McCarthy's effort to hijack it:
How Kevin McCarthy tried to sabotage the House January 6 investigation
Of course McCarthy never wanted a real investigation into the insurrection he encouraged.

Thompson said earlier this week that the committee would consider whether it will seek to interview Trump and Pence in a committee meeting Thursday.
"That's part of the discussion that we'll talk about on Thursday," Thompson said on Tuesday after the committee's seventh public hearing .. https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/12/politics/january-6-hearing-day-7-takeaways/index.html , when asked if the committee wanted to hear from Pence.
As of Thursday evening, the former vice president had not yet received any proposal for his testimony -- written or otherwise -- from the committee, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The source would not respond in a definitive way about how Pence would respond to any committee request, but the source did not close the door on any possibilities.
Pence and his aides have always assumed that the committee would come back and ask for written testimony from him, the source added.
