Considering the Census is conducted on a regularly scheduled basis, one can hardly classify this information as "pre-election (anything-to-help-Al-Gore-get-elected)figures." The census merely gathers figures and reports them. That it pisses you off the census came up when it did is probably more to the point. ----------- Not necessarily. The Census makes these reports available year round, but this data would have been more precisely provided after the 2000 census. Additionally, the article had a nice little picture of Billy-boy with a caption that read: "President Bill Clinton attributes the decline in poverty to a course of fiscal discipline".
Not necessarily?!?! Man, you're stretching yourself so far on this one you'd make the thin man look fat. The data was reported and provided precisely when it was readied by the Census bureau!

Poverty Rate Lowest in 20 Years, Household Income at Record High, Census Bureau Reports
The nation's poverty rate dropped from 12.7 percent in 1998 to 11.8 percent in 1999 the lowest rate since 1979 and real median household income reached $40,816, the highest level ever recorded by the Census Bureau (household income data were first recorded in 1967), according to two reports released today by the Commerce Department's Census Bureau.
Now, if it's at all possible, try to humbly accept the date of the CNN story:

Of further note:
That report was the ONLY most recent report on poverty conducted by the Census:
This, of course, was a lie since that year he (and Congress) spent money like it was growing on trees.
It was growing on trees. Why, I myself happen to have a lovely Hamilton tree in my back yard. LOL However, you also forgot that Clinton also was paying down the national debt to the tune of $360 billion dollars.
Its not another tangent. How dismissive you are when I merely expand the parameters because you are able to find a local fluff piece to support your position. Is it your argument that there are fewer poor people in the world?
Dismissive? Hardly. You were side-stepping, back-tracking, two-timing, and in general getting tripped up over your two left feet in a feeble attempt to alter the conversation.
You initially asked for one piece of information and one piece only. I provided it. I've now proven that the facts are the facts, not merely a fluff piece. It's time for you to act like a real man and admit defeat.
I made no argument EVER about the number of poor people in the world. That is YOUR new argument.
I merely completed, with A+ accuracy I might add, an assignment. You need to learn how to say to someone else beside yourself "damn, you are right."
