Hitting the bed, but wanted to mention this experience a few minutes ago.
I have played video games since 1975 or so and still play some today. My age is irrelevant to gaming. But not hard core.
Was killing time on WOW retail - shadowland, and was getting ready to sign out for the night and WOW can have a visible chat window. Your character is normally called a toon. I saw someone make a comment about biden being a crook and pervert who is ruining our country with the gas theft.
WTF? I jumped on and asked 'it' what they meant. They said frump was the best president ever and didn't lose and will be back in 2024 if not 2022. I said, are you aware there is no presidential election between 4 years? Then they cursed at me and said it's going to be a special election and they will announce it in August. I couldn't get my fingers to type for a minute...stunned. I said I think you're mentally imbalanced - quote. I was attacked instantly by about 7 toons, all spewing nonsense and saying all sorts of nasty stuff to me. I said, maybe a lot of you are nuts?? At that point more than 10 toons were attacking, people can say some pretty horrible stuff on WOW and get away with it.
To say the least, it was unsettling and sickening. My last few comments were, c'mon you guys, you're pulling my chains. Quit kidding around. I don't think they were kidding around due to some stuff they were saying. Then I just basically said enjoy the j6 hearings and watching your hero go down in flames. Hopefully he'll kill himself or flee to russia. Which of course a chorus of maga insults were flying.
It was truly unbelievable. I rarely chat in game but I got blindsided that time. It was like talking to people who didn't know english. The number that came at me I never would have thought would ever be on there. Just so sickening.
