crzy4soccer--you touched on an interesting phenomena. When
people get hoodwinked, not only is there a huge financial loss,
but one's ego gets severely bruised if one were to admit that
some con artist one-upped you. Therefore, for protection, we
turn on our defensive mechanisms which can vary from anger,
bitterness, revenge and most commonly denial. By denying that
we have been bamboozled, we keep our ego intact and, in order
to do that, we must espouse a view that our choice was right
and join in the chorus of similar victims. Hence, you get
things like the ticky-tacky board which allows nothing that
might bruise the egos of the members.
BTW, sensitive egos are by no means unique to those that have
been conned. Part of the reason that I shed so many tears,
gnashed my teeth and wailed over buy_low's very hurtful
comments directed at my impeccable reputation was the effect
on my ego. I am just not used to criticism, I guess.....particulary when it is totally unwarranted.
cheers
PS Guinness is good for you
