Looks i missed replying to that, back when. Don't understand how.
"File a police report, when you're feeling up to it. Pitbulls and Staffordshires are similar. And both can nice, very social dogs. Friendly and affectionate. Unless they're badly trained by their owners. Feel better soon!!"
The police came with the ambulance to the neighbor's house. Just after the bite, they came with the ambulance. They interviewed the owner shortly after and in NSW the deal is that is their only involvement until after the council people finish their investigation and decide whether or not to take the guy to court. In this case the council decided to go to court so the police weren't involved again.
Come to think of it i haven't before wrapped it all up, so here it is.
The Council decided to prosecute, it went to court. The owner of the dogs (turns out their were three, but only one attacked me) didn't show up. He didn't have to. He was charged with a criminal offense. The charge was being the owner of a dog which had attacked blah blah blah. The maximum fine for the offense is $12, 000. He was found guilty and fined $6,000, which everybody was happy with as it meant the court accepted it for the serious attack it was. Two of the dogs (one other apparently nipped, just nipped, one of the police who were called to the same house some three weeks later for a home invasion) were placed under orders. Orders meaning they have to be muzzled and on a leash when outside.
The owner of the house was finally able to break the lease and the dog owner and his mates left some time ago. Word is they were doing drugs from the house. It took about 10 weeks before the sheriff booted them.
The council assures the dogs will put down IF they are involved in another attack.
After seeing legal aid and looking into it a bit further i decided it would be a waste of time to go after the owner for any compensation privately.
The scar is healing beautifully, as expected. I heal well. Guess that's a wrap.
