IMO, I think it was purposeful. If all he wanted to let us know was that there was a possible suitor out there, that is all he should have said. However, he unsolicitedly added that the company is basically worthless.

Perhaps he wanted the price to cave so the guy who is suing may settle faster for a cheaper amount.
