If winning means stopping Russia from achieving it's initial goal Ukraine has won already. It's just too bad it has come at such a terrible cost. That said i think many of us have been thinking the American goal, from pretty well the beginning, has been to weaken Russia to the extent that it would be many years before any leader there would even consider being as vicious and foolish as Putin has been. And before the possibility of getting jets was mentioned in your article i'd guess many more than i reading it would have been thinking it was probably coming.
