The conservatives driving the phony culture wars are encouraging more conflict. They aren't able to debate issues as gender identity which are a real cause of bullying and other abuse of many young Americans today, so they instead turn to abuse of a word like "woke" to cover that weakness of theirs. Yes they'd rather see voters kept ignorant and reactionary than deal responsible with real social concerns of millions of Americans.
