i know i took it out of context, just if you said it like that to someone who
wasn't in on all the conversation it would naturally be taken as not supporting.

And you have put the same feeling at other times. "Not standing up for" means not supporting.

You've just gotta be more careful sometimes to say exactly what you mean.
