Russia is a bad actor, for sure, not trying to give them any cover, but it strikes me as a little naive to believe other countries, including America, aren't going the cyber war route full tilt, too.
Have you read about Stuxnet? Not only did it wreck Iran's centrifuges but it was set up so that when the Iranian technicians looked at their data it was reading normal during the entirety of the attack.
"Analysis on Stuxnet revealed that beyond the four zero-day exploits there were a number of other advanced features including a Windows rootkit, a distributed command and control network, the ability to peer-to-peer update, legitimate signed digital certificates, and various antivirus evasion techniques."
My point being that there is a likelihood that undetectable cyber attacks are under way, that the attacks and retaliations are ongoing and might eventually, maybe, some day, be revealed.
