RTMNF glad Pennington’s was busy although 1 data point never means much.

Plus size competition is going to be more limited. There were a couple other options in CA, but it doesn’t seem nearly as competitive as general apparel. I do like those niche businesses.

Do you have any firsthand thoughts on their 3 brands? It’s hard not being in Canada, and I depend on things like Yelp comments to get a feel.

The Reitmans brand seems to carry a lot of stuff that would be described as business casual so I kind of hope there is a pent up demand tailwind as people go back into the office. Maybe Pennington’s will benefit from general weight gain. There was a survey in the US that said something like half of millennials had gained weight during the pandemic and the average was something outrageous like 45 pounds.

One of the biggest travesties over the past 2 years is we not only didn’t encourage people to exercise, but we actively discouraged it with policy. Encouraging physical activity would have dramatically reduced covid deaths and paid long term dividends.
