KBLB tests and selectively breeds its silkworms due to genetic drift in order to keep the quality and performance of the spidersilk high and consistent. This testing and selective breeding, plus the higher strength and elastic performance of their silks, is what makes their silk production process and silks different than any traditional silks and normal silk production.

I would also speculate that it is also possible that someday they will have spidersilk made in “clean rooms” for high end space and/or medical applications.
