Are you actually looking for houses and arriving at this conclusion? In my area just last week a house went $40k over ask, after being on market for only few days. Same for new constructions, the strip of 5 new homes up for sale sell out in a week then they move onto the next. They cost more and are relatively smaller but people still pay.
