QAnon Activist Dies Amid Ivermectin Debate

Sep. 15, 2021 -- A prominent figure in the QAnon movement died in a Chicago hospital after followers demanded doctors give her ivermectin, a controversial medication that far-right media figures say is effective in treating COVID-19.

Veronica Wolski, 64, died in the intensive care unit of AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center early Monday, a hospital spokeswoman told The Chicago Tribune.

Prominent QAnon influencers Michael Flynn and Lin Wood both helped fuel the crusade against AMITA, calling on their social media followers to harass the hospital’s staff about giving Wolski ivermectin.

A video posted to Twitter by Reuters reporter Jan Wolfe showed Wood calling the hospital on Sunday, saying its staff would be “guilty of murder” if Wolski wasn’t released immediately.

Keith Smith, whose wife had gone to court to have his COVID-19 infection treated with ivermectin, died Sunday evening, a week after he received his first dose of the controversial drug.

He was 52.

Smith was in a hospital in Pennsylvania for nearly three weeks and had been in the hospital’s intensive care unit in a medically induced coma on a ventilator since Nov. 21. He had been diagnosed with the virus on Nov. 10.
