Australia is a perfectly normal country. I can't even imagine what you think it is.

I'm afraid Bible-thumpers and Birchers tend not to see the complexities in countries and individuals. As Americans, we're practically brought up to believe everyone else in the world wants to live here. That is simply not true. Other nations--even poor ones, even repressive ones--have their own traditions and cultures, and don't want to lose them.
