Well figure 1 square mile = 640 acres, 1 acre-foot of water covers that square mile to a depth of 1/640 feet * 12 inches/foot = .01875 inches. So if it rains a quarter inch over a 20 square mile area, you got .25/.01875 * 20 = 1067 acre feet, or 1100 acre-feet rounded to two significant figures (because our rain gauge is only so accurate). Too bad Cypress can't capture that water. Then they wouldn't have to worry about water rights!
